"My ceramics are inspired by the perfect forms of Grecian vessels, and the intriguing nature of ancient Egyptian canopic jars. The use of laser-cut acrylic brings my work into the 21st century and adds depth to the overall aesthetic of each piece.

The imagery I use is often auto-biographical and the techniques of hand painting glaze and designing ceramic transfers makes my work extremely personal. Pieces also relate to popular culture, especially the modern love of fame and celebrity status.

I want to appeal to people first through traditional and figurative form, and then capture their interest with a rich tapestry of stories and visual treats.

The process is a mixture of extremely new technology and traditional methods. The concepts are modern, but have their basis in ancient symbolism."

- Lucy won New Designers in 2010 with her ceramic pieces.
